A word from the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Research

Dear colleagues, faculty members, and graduate students,

I am pleased and honored to lead the Graduate Studies and Research Sector at Faculty of Archaeology, Sohag University, one of the most distinguished and prestigious educational institutions in this field

Through this website, I am pleased to present the faculty’s graduate programs and the regulations governing them, as well as a summary and examples of the services and activities it provides in the fields of cultural relations, research, and the library.

Objectives of the Graduate Studies and Research Sector

  • The faculty’s Graduate Studies and Research Sector aims to achieve a tangible leap in improving performance and developing graduate programs through:
  • Working to add a number of new programs while updating the research plan in all scientific disciplines within the faculty, in line with global research developments.
  • Raising the awareness of faculty researchers regarding scientific publishing in general, focusing on the importance of international publishing, and clarifying its various methods and mechanisms
  • Encouraging the faculty’s research affiliates to represent it in local, regional and international scientific forums with their research in the faculty’s various specializations
  • Building bridges of cooperation and establishing partnerships with local, regional, and foreign universities recognized for their excellence and competence in the field of scientific research, in addition to opening joint academic channels that allow for the exchange of visits between the two parties, at the level of professors and researchers, as well as permitting the awarding of joint academic degrees
  • Working to hold an annual scientific seminar for the faculty’s graduate students and affiliates, and motivating them by publishing their outstanding research during their studies in booklets. In addition, cooperating with the faculty’s academic departments to hold annual scientific seminars for the departments, in which graduate students present their papers

Conditions for Admission to Postgraduate Studies

Conditions for Admission to Postgraduate Studies

According to Ministerial Resolution No. 2351 dated July 4, 2019 regarding amending the internal regulations of Faculty of Archaeology, Sohag University (postgraduate studies stage), the text of Article 14 shall be replaced with the following text
To be eligible for a Master’s degree in Archaeology, a student must have a Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology with a grade of at least “good” from an Egyptian university, or an equivalent degree from a scientific institute recognized by the Supreme Council of Universities, and must continue his studies for one academic year in the department from which he graduated
Accepting Egyptian and foreign students who have obtained an acceptable grade to register for graduate studies at the faculty, provided that they study some subjects proposed by the scientific department and approved by the faculty council and ratified by the university council, provided that internal coordination takes place between the applicant students in accordance with the faculty’s capacity.

1. Original qualification + copy.

3. Transcript of grades (grades).

4. Military status for males.

5. Four recent personal photos.

Documents to be obtained from the Graduate Studies Department or on the faculty website.

1. Registration form (1) ,a 5-pound stamp and a 1-pound stamp.

2. Annual fee payment declaration a 1-pound stamp.

3. Regulations declaration a 1-pound stamp.

4. Full-time employment declaration for non-employees a 1-pound stamp.

. 5. Discount acceptance declaration for non-employees a 1-pound stamp
A declaration of acceptance of a discount for non-employees is subject to a stamp of one pound.

For employees, the following applies:
A. A job status statement form, completed by the employer and approved by the applicant’s personnel affairs department, with the logo stamped on it.

B. The employer’s approval, certified by the head of the department and stamped with the logo stamped on it, with one pound stamp
