- A special unit within Faculty of Archaeology, Sohag University. The team is headed by Dr. Ihab Awad El-Imam, a lecturer in the Restoration Department. The center is located on the fifth floor next to the elevator
Mission and vision
- Vision
To be a center of expertise for the antiquities and conservation sector, providing technical advice, technical support, and scientific expertise necessary for the study and protection of Egyptian antiquities. Additionally, the center strives to continuously achieve excellence and superiority among those working in the field of antiquities, enhancing their competence in Sohag Governorate and neighbouring governorates, and equipping them with practical and scientific skills in the field of antiquities and conservation
- Mission
- The Center works to enhance the capacity of all archaeology graduates and those working in the archaeological field.
- Encourage graduates to pursue careers in either the archaeology sector or the heritage crafts and traditional industries sector, and develop their skills to help infuse expertise and other groups with training, scientific and technical qualifications, and greater awareness of the importance of cultural heritage and traditional crafts and their role in supporting the economic resources of Sohag Governorate
- Working to protect the intellectual property of traditional crafts and to record and document the governorate’s heritage, including immovable and movable antiquities, traditional crafts, and traditional industries.
Objectives
- Hold scientific conferences in the maintenance of monuments.
- Hold workshops and seminars to discuss the issues of monuments and the dangers and problems which threat their remain .
- Hold training courses aims at increasing the experiences of the specialists and develop their scientific efficiency.
- Conduct researches and studies related to the problems of monuments and the ways of maintenance and restoration.
- Scientific and practical partnership with the civil and governmental represented by the state ministry of archeology affairs to prepare the projects of restoration and maintenance either in museums or in any other archeological sites.
- Hold training courses in developing the heritage crafts and increase the awareness of the importance of the traditional industries and heritage crafts.

Hold partnership with the civil society institutions, family association and the governmental managements which care about the youth

Hold partnership with the institutions and the family associations which aims at developing the craft skills and the handmade crafts
As these institutions need an experience house which presents training experiences in the field of craft skills and the handmade crafts to provide job opportunities for youth.

Hold partnership with youth care office at the university to hold training courses aims at making the university students acquire the artistic skills to make them participate in the students’ activities and the top meetings which the supreme council of universities organizes at the level of the Egyptian universities

Excavate the scientific, historical and archeological books and manuscripts .
- The first direction
Hold partnership between the university and the general of governor in adopting the project of maintenance and restoration of the library of Refaa Altahtawy, as the library is one of the most valuable libraries.
- Second direction
Hold partnership between the faculty and the faculties of the university to excavate and maintain the libraries of the faculties and also the books of the historical importance which exposed to damage by the libraries users.
